If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Luke 11:13
Most of the information you'll find in this blog is taken from biblical commentaries and are used to thoroughly explain the word of God and help the reader, rightly divide the word of truth. "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). The referenced scripture, presupposes the doctrine of human depravity. It states "How much more": If earthly fathers try to give their sons whatever they need, will not God give to His sons those whatever necessary thing they ask for? Parents love their children and will give them freely all the things that they have to give. Human love is not even closely compared to the great love that God has for mankind. Man's love is conditional. God's love is unconditional, expecting nothing in return. In the book of Matthew, it promises good things. Here, the Holy Spirit is promised to those who ask and seek. The best gift, aside from salvation, that a Christian can receive is the Holy Spirit. It gives us power to live this life victoriously. We know that Evil people do give good gifts to their children, however they are not always careful to make sure these gifts are for the best interest of the receiver. Here, God gives the things that will help in our Christian walk, the greatest gift being Himself. The bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 Here in lies the problem, most men (or women) don't consider themselves evil, well I have news for you, without Jesus Christ, you probably are. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jer.17:9 If you want more of the Holy Spirit, ask God for it and be ready to receive a blessing that will overflow in you. "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:38-39
